The world is exceeding the 1.5°C global warming limit, but what happens when these boundaries – set by the Paris Agreement – have been crossed? In the overshoot era, industries and states turn to new technologies that supposedly block sunlight and remove CO₂.  Such techno-solutions are by no means safe; they come with immense risks and provide an excuse for those who would prefer to avoid limiting emissions in the present. Can the catastrophe be reversed, masked or simply adapted to once it is a fact? Or will any such round­about measures simply make things worse?

Join us when Andreas Malm and Wim Carton present their brand new  book The Long Heat: Climate Politics when it is too late (2025). Mapping out the new front lines in the struggle for a livable planet, they argue that no technology can absolve us of responsibility for our planet and each other. The book presentation will be followed by a discussion with author Liz Jensen, moderated by CApE director Stefan Gaarsmand Jacobsen.
